Urgent: Protect NEMT — Secure Higher Medi-Cal & Broker Rates --
The California Medical Transportation Association (CMTA) is working with the Legislature to author and co-author a bill that will increase both Medi-Cal reimbursement rates and broker contract rates for NEMT providers.
This is our last chance to stay in business. Providers across California are at the breaking point:
• Vehicle costs for ADA vans, lifts, repairs, and parts have skyrocketed.
• Insurance premiums now average $19,000–$20,000 per vehicle per year, up from $8,000–$9,000 just last year.
• Fuel, labor, and compliance costs continue to climb with no relief.
Without meaningful increases in both Medi-Cal and broker rates, many providers will be forced to close. That means dialysis, oncology, wound care, and other medically fragile patients will lose access to essential transportation.
• We will provide a full update on this legislative effort to raise Medi-Cal and broker rates and map out our next steps.
• To ensure this bill succeeds, CMTA has launched a statewide fundraiser dedicated exclusively to this effort.
Funds will power:
• Direct lobbying and vote-counting in Sacramento
• Coalition-building with patient advocates and healthcare providers
• Testimony backed by real data on costs and patient impact
• Rapid-response communications to lawmakers and brokers
CMTA is asking every provider to contribute at one of these levels: • $500 • $750 • $1,000
Your support is critical. Together, we can secure fair Medi-Cal and broker rates and keep California’s NEMT industry alive for the patients who depend on us.
With urgency and determination, on behalf of CMTA Board of Directors
